Reference database on simplified geometries

This deliverable consists of a publicly available database containing the experimental and LES data obtained on the simplified geometries

VKI Lecture series

The von Karman institute will organise a dedicated lecture series on particle separator technology including experimental and numerical techniques for particulate flow as part of its regular programme during the last year of the project The lectures will include contributions by both partners as well as lectures by invited speakers who are experts in the field

Specification of the numerical and experimental validation campaign

This report describes the detailed workplan numerical and experimental validation, including the aerodynamic design and optimisation of the simplified geometries and specification of the instrumentation on both simplified and complete geometries. This document has to be validated by SHE

Construction of the simplified geometry benchmarks

This deliverable describes the geometries of the two simplified test benches to be investigated for the development and validation of the instrumentation and numerical tools It will give full details of this geometries including tolerances and potential deviations after manufacturing and assembly to allow mesh setup

Experimental and numerical test campaign on simplified geometry benchmarks

This deliverable details the test campaign on simplified geometries in view of later exploitation within the project but also by the scientific community at large On the general level the report contains all details the geometry of the test benches as well as the test matrix of operating conditions It furthermore details the actual form of the data base The database should contain information not only on performance data separation efficiency mass flow split pressure loss but also detailed information about conditions at in and outlet required for the computational setupOn the experimental side the report details the instrumentation the measurement chain and the uncertainties associated to each measured variable the definition of the different measured variables the boundary conditions measured at the entrance and exit of the test sections On the numerical side the report will provide the detailed computational setup including model variants and parameters as well as boundary conditions A particular effort will be attributed to grid convergence studies and boundary condition sensitivities

LES model implementation, verification and validation

This report describes the LESparticle models that have been implemented together with associated literature survey For each of the models the validation effort and grid convergence studies for the identified benchmarks are detailed
