Demonstration methodology

Technical requirements for the implementation of a world-class Stage Gate Assessment Framework in Ocean Energy

Report detailing the technical requirements for the Stage Gate Tool including definition of how the tool can be used in the technology development process. Output from: Task 4.1. Success indicator: technical requirements for design and testing of the Stage Gate Tool.

Specific sector standards for business management models for the ocean energy sector

Report documenting standard approaches to business management in the ocean energy sector, including the application of the tools and the route to development of new business models for ocean energy. Output from: Task 8.4. Success indicator: Standard approaches that support development of business, funding and support cases.

Impact of dissemination and communication activities - 2nd annual report

Update of the impact analysis of the dissemination and communication activities. Output from: Task 9.2. Success indicator: Assessment of the dissemination and communication activities deployed in the second year.

Technical requirements for the Assessment Design Tools

Description of the scope of the toolset, the coupling with commercial alternatives and the digital information requirements, obtained as an outcome of T6.1. The fulfilment of the requirements of the users, will be critically discussed. Output from: Task 6.1. Success indicator: technical requirements for design and testing of the Assessment Design Tool.

Overall technical and sector recommendations

A set of recommendations for stakeholders in order to improve global performance of ocean energy arrays, devices and critical sub-systems based on the outcomes of the demonstration scenarios will be produced. Output from: Task 7.6. Success indicator: Knowledge base with technical recommendations for the sector.

Detailed description of demonstration scenarios

A comprehensive description of scenarios which will be considered for the demonstration purposes, including data characterisation and classification. Output from: Task 7.2. Success indicator: Demonstration scenarios fully documented.

Dissemination and Communication plan

Strategy to disseminate and emphasis the information and outcomes of the project using the tool set up in the D9.1 among the sector ecosystem. Output from: Task 9.2. Success indicator: Full version of the dissemination and communication plan available.

Analysis of the European supply chain

Report detailing the status of the European supply chain, its current engagement with ocean energy sector and its future potential. This supply chain will be central to the future sustainable impact of advanced design tools for ocean energy and the technology developed. Output from: Task 8.2. Success indicator: Assessment of pricing methods, business models, non-technical barriers/enablers of current and future supply chains.

Technical requirements for the implementation of Structured Innovation in Ocean Energy systems

Report outlining how Structured Innovation can be applied to concept creation in the ocean energy sector. This will include requirements for the Structured Innovation Tool. Output from: Task 3.1. Success indicator: technical requirements for design and testing of the Structured Innovation Tool.

Results from user-groups consultation

Report detailing the needs of a complete range of prospective ocean energy design tool users. Output from: Task 2.1. Success indicator: Collection of inputs from four different perspectives as described in the task.

Technical requirements for the Deployment Design Tools

The improvements with respect to the previous release of the DTOcean platform will be highlighted, as well as the positioning within the current state of the art of the DTOceanPlus toolset and its expected impact. Description of the scope of the toolset, the coupling with commercial software and the digital information requirements will be included. The fulfilment of the requirements of the users, identified in WP2, will be pointed out and critically discussed. Output from: Task 5.1. Success indicator: technical requirements for design and testing of the Deployment Design Tool.

Impact of dissemination and communication activities - 1st annual report

Impact analysis and assessment of the dissemination and communication activities with respect to the initial targets. Output from: Task 9.2. Success indicator: Assessment of the dissemination and communication activities deployed in the first year.

Functional requirements and metrics of 2nd generation design tools

Report specifying the detailed requirements (functional, operational, user, interfacing and data) to act as user specifications for tool development work packages WP 3, 4, 5 & 6. Output from: Task 2.2. Success indicator: Requirements ready to be used in the different design tools (Structured Innovation; Stage Gate; Device/Array Design and Deployment; Assessment).

Education and training plan

Consistent plan for education and training at various levels: stakeholders’ generic actions, specific activities in real-world projects and civil society engagement. Output from: Task 9.4. Success indicator: Plan for general education and training.

Knowledge exchange of educational and training material

Material to be used for the effective implementation of the above education and training plan (D9.8). Output from: Task 9.4. Success indicator: Catalogue of educational and training material used in the project.

Feasibility and cost-benefit analysis

Report documenting the economic feasibility and cost-benefit analysis of the real ocean energy project case studies used for demonstration in WP7. This report will also illustrate the benefit of the DTOceanPlus toolset to those projects and technologies. Output from: Task 8.3. Success indicator: Assessment of technologies and funding frameworks.

Potential markets for Ocean Energy technology

Report detailing the potential markets for Ocean energy technology, including new or improved opportunities. Output from: Task 8.1. Success indicator: Analysis of large scale power production, remote/island locations and energy backup potential markets.

Impact of dissemination and communication activities - 3rd annual report

Final analysis of the dissemination and communication activities. Output from: Task 9.2. Success indicator: Assessment of the dissemination and communication activities deployed in the third year.

Performance and Energy Yield Tools - alpha version

It will include the alpha version of the tools and a technical manual describing data requirements, main functions, interfaces and all the technical details. Output from: Task 6.2 & Task 6.3. Success indicator: Alpha version of Performance and Energy Yield Tools released, i.e. software with partial functionality.

Stationkeeping Tools - alpha version

The alpha version of the energy station keeping tools will be delivered, releasing the software and a technical manual. Output from: Task 5.2 & Task 5.7. Success indicator: Alpha version of Stationkeeping Tools released

System Environmental and Social Acceptance Tools - alpha version

Similarly to D6.2, the alpha version of the Environmental and Social Acceptance tools will be delivered, together with a technical manual. Output from: Task 6.2 & Task 6.6. Success indicator: Alpha version of System Environmental and Social Acceptance Tools released.

Energy Capture Tools - alpha version

The alpha version of the energy capture tools will be delivered, releasing the software and a technical manual. Output from: Task 5.2 & Task 5.4. Success indicator: Alpha version of Energy Capture Tools released.

Site Characterisation Tools - alpha version

In this deliverable, the alpha version of the site characterisation tools will be delivered. The deliverable will include the alpha version itself and a technical manual, in which the digital data requirements, the main functions, the interfaces with the TELEMAC software, and all the technical details of the software will be described in detail. Output from: Task 5.2 & Task 5.3. Success indicator: Alpha version of Site Characterisation Tools released, i.e. software with partial functionality.

Full suite of design tools for devices and arrays

In this deliverable, the full toolset for ocean energy systems will be released. The deliverable consists of: software for the supported platforms; supporting documentation (i.e technical and user manuals, tutorials, example test cases). Output from: Task 7.3. Success indicator: Release candidate of the full suite of design tools, i.e. fully functional and stable software.

Database visualisation and maintenance tool

A data management tool for visualization and maintenance of the data for ocean energy systems will be fully described and released. Output from: Task 7.3. Success indicator: data management tool operational.

Systems RAMS Tools - alpha version

Similarly to D6.2, the alpha version of the RAMS tools will be delivered, together with a technical manual. Output from: Task 6.2 & Task 6.4. Success indicator: Alpha version of System RAMS Tools released.

Energy Transformation Tools - alpha version

The alpha version of the energy transformation tools will be delivered, releasing the software and a technical manual. Output from: Task 5.2 & Task 5.5. Success indicator: Alpha version of Energy Transformation Tools released.

System Lifetime Costs Tools - alpha version

Similarly to D6.2, the alpha version of the Lifetime Costs tools will be delivered, together with a technical manual. Output from: Task 6.2 & Task 6.5. Success indicator: Alpha version of System Lifetime Costs Tools released.

Stage Gate Tool - alpha version

First public version (alpha) of the Stage Gate Design Tool software for use for sub-systems, energy capture devices and arrays in the ocean energy sector. This will include a detailed framework to show how the tool is applied. Output from: Task 4.2. Success indicator: Alpha version of Stage Gate Tool released, i.e. software with partial functionality.

Structured Innovation Tool - alpha version

First public version (alpha) of the Structured Innovation Tool for use in concept creation for sub-systems, energy capture devices and arrays in the ocean energy sector. This will include a detailed framework to show how the tool is applied. Output from: Task 3.2. Success indicator: Alpha version of Structured Innovation Tool released, i.e. software with partial functionality.

Energy Delivery Tools - alpha version

Logistics and Marine Operation Tools - alpha version

The alpha version of the logistics and marine operation tools will be delivered, releasing the software and a technical manual. Output from: Task 5.2 & Task 5.8. Success indicator: Alpha version of Logistics and Marine Operation Tools released.

Standard data formats of Ocean Energy systems

Description of objects and corresponding data to be used for fully describing ocean energy system (tidal and wave) projects. Output from: Task 7.1. Success indicator: Standard digital representation of ocean energy array objects, their groupings, datasets, attributes and links to other files.

Demonstration results of integrated design tools for Tidal Energy

It will include outcomes of the demonstration tidal energy scenarios and the results, in terms of key metrics, will be analysed. Output from: Task 7.5. Success indicator: Results documented and analysed for tidal energy scenarios.

Testing and verification results of the Ocean Energy Assessment Design Tools - beta version

This deliverable will include the final output of WP6 and will include the beta release of the software for each of the tools being part of the toolset, a technical manual (recompiling all the details about the digital data requirements of the tools, the main functions, the interfaces with the commercial software and the technical details of the software) and a user manual, in which some example of usage of all the pieces of the toolset will be included. Output from: Task 6.7. Success indicator: Beta version of Assessment Design Tool released, i.e. software with complete functionality.

Testing and verification results of the Stage Gate Tool - beta version

A test report showing results of verification testing of the Stage Gate Tool. A beta version of the tool with a technical report and user manual. Output from: Task 4.3. Success indicator: Beta version of Stage Gate Tool released, i.e. software with complete functionality.

Demonstration results of integrated design tools for Wave Energy

The outcomes of the demonstration wave energy scenarios will be included in this deliverable and the results, in terms of key metrics, analysed. Output from: Task 7.4. Success indicator: Results documented and analysed for wave energy scenarios.

Testing and verification results of the Deployment Design tools - beta version

This deliverable will include the final output of WP5, consisting of: the software (beta release) of the tools; a technical manual, recompiling the data requirements, the main functions and the interfaces with commercial software; and a user manual, in which some example of tool use will be included as a guide for the future users. Output from: Task 5.9. Success indicator: Beta version of Deployment Design Tool released, i.e. software with complete functionality.
