Periodic Reporting for period 1 - Radiation detector (Novel radioactive radiation technology feasibility verification)
Periodo di rendicontazione: 2018-03-01 al 2018-09-30
Problem Sensinite aims to solve is the fact that current radiation detectors cannot be used at circumstances, environments or locations where it would be the most suitable for efficient detection of radioactive material. To be able to do that requires combining and modifying several various kinds of existing technologies. This approach consequently adds complexity, weight, size and price of the end device monitoring and controlling the radioactive radiation levels.
The importance to solve the problem for society is enormous. Financial implications if for example a dirty bomb containing radioactive material explodes in city environment are anywhere between 14 to 240 billion EUR. Every cancer case puts burden on health system and costs hundred of thousands euros and therefore it is crucial to be able to avoid cancer. In addition to financial implications, it must taken account the implications on humans' personal lifes when a serious illness hits a person. Prevention of the cases is invaluable.
The overall objective of Sensinite is to develop and make radioactive radiation detectors that can be used more widely and extensively helping to detect radiation where ever it exists so that it can be collected and removed safely.
