This report will explore novel ways of utilising existing data sets in developing both biophysical and monetary accounts It will descibe the results of two case studiespilot acocunts to be developed in two countries Finland and France

This report will describe and analyse progress made with innovations in the MAIA building upon the other deliverables in this WP and it will also assess the repercussions for the development of a global standard for SEEA EEA

This report will include a bestpractice guideline on valuation of ecosystem services and assets for SEEA ecosystem accounting The review will include practical examples of accountingcompatible valuation experiences in particular in the EU Guidelines will also contain recommendations on uncertainty documentation of the valuation estimates used to compiled monetary accounts Guidance will also be provided in the form of decision trees and further development of an online method selection tool as trialed in OpenNESS

A report summarising the country levels of implementation policy priorities and questions and in the context of Europe and other relevant initiatives

This report will develop methods and techniques for using big data sources compiled for different purposes and without rigid statistical structure to produce reliable statistics on ecosystem services consistent with the requirements of SEEA

Synthesis report mainstreamining ecosystem accounting (si apre in una nuova finestra)

Synthesis report on final outcomes of mainstreaming accounts in the participating member states This report will focus on the integration of lessons learned from all participating countries in mainstreaming their accounts at different scales The report will synthesise the experiences with piloting natural capital and ecosystem accounts in the 10 member states in this WP and will provide guidance on practicalities of accounting based on these experiences

This report will describe selected key issues related to monetary valuation that are not yet settled in SEEA EEA Technical Recommendations This includes the following themes i the use of simulated exchange values for goods not traded in markets ii the role and valuation of intermediate ecosystem services iii the use of maintenance cost approach as an additional indicator of value iv the implications of using different assumptions on asset life and discount rates for constructing asset accounts and v the relative importance of including in these models expected flows of ecosystem services in probabilistic terms

This report will describe approaches and indicators that can be used to develop biodiversity accounts building upon earlier work conducted on this theme by among others WCMC The report will include the results of case studiespilots in Belgium Greece and Norway

Assess stateoftheart and applicability of natural capital and ecosystem accounts in participating countriesTask leader LUH URJC Contributors All consortium partnersThis report will include a country assessment of the 10 participating countries on the state of accounting modelling and available expertise and data This will also include templates for synthesising MAIA country mainstreaming and innovation activities to ensure consistency in reporting

Codesign natural capital and ecosystem accounts in participating countriesTask leader LUH URJC Contributors All consortium partnersFor each country a selection of two to three pilot accounts will be made based on discussions in each country with relevant stakeholders The report will develop the conceptual base and the design for the practical implementation of country pilots The final deliverable will specify outcomes by country

The guidelines for biophysical modelling will draw on biophysical modelling experiences documented by MAES and recent EU ia ESMERALDA OpenNESS Operas and international research projects to provide guidance on best practices in selecting methods for SEEA ecoystem accounting Guidance on uncertainty documentation of model inputs and outputs to supply and use accounts will be included

Finalised report highlighting lessons learned recommendations and case study material highlighting which accounts had been used to answer which types of policy questions The report will be based upon the national workshops to be conducted in the fourth year of project implementation also include reference when appropriate to policy questionspriorities which were unable to be addressed successfully through accounting systems and other tools such as risk registers would be more useful

MAIA allocates 15 manmonths to relevant upcoming but yet to be determined European Commission policy requestsneeds Outcomes will be reported in one deliverable in project month 48 or sooner if the need for support arises earlier

Report modelling water regulation (si apre in una nuova finestra)

This report will review the existing modelling approaches for water regulation and define the most appropriate for NCA examine how water regulation can be quantified at different scales and define the appropriate mapping units for such quantification examine accuracy requirements for the water regulation modelling that are appropriate for accounting and define water regulation parameters that can be used in accounting

Within 6 months WU will prepare a public project website including general presentation of MAIA several downloadable leaflets on accounting and report the website on various social media

Fully operational web-based viewer with open access (si apre in una nuova finestra)

The fully operational webbased viewer with open access will allow potential users to access information in the pilot accounts of the MAIA project in an open access easy to handle manner This will include the possibility to download information for specific sites Where possible the viewer will also allow access to other accounting pilots in the EU or outside of the EU depending upon the owner of the datas willingness to make these data available in this viewer
