The Intelligent Quality System: a Computer-Based Methodology for Quality Management

Objective

A computer-based methodology will be developed to assist the generation and implementation of a quality management system. Knowledge-based system techniques will be used to incorporate expert constancy knowledge in order to assist the user in adopting the optimum quality system solution for their business.

The growth in the demand for certification and increasing awareness of the need to continuously improve quality show that the market for TIQS will be extensive. Many SMEs are facing increasing demands form their customers (and even their governments) to adopt a certifiable quality system. The Europe-wide presence of two of the partners in the consortium will ensure that TIQS will have an important impact on European quality assurance.

Major benefits are expected to be realised as a result of the TIQS project in terms of quality standardisation across the Community, increased competitiveness of TIQS users, better relations between the larger EC companies and their suppliers, and better use of resources in terms of savings in financial and environmental costs.

Exploitation will be in the form of extensive software sales by the two main vendors, who both have significant presence in the market. Consultancy and training services will augment the product sales and ensure that the market focus is maintained.
