EU-US knowledge exchange to better prepare for 5G

The internet’s shortcomings and bottlenecks have resulted in a new generation of test platforms that are backed by global initiatives. However, Europe is noticeably absent from these initiatives. The EU-funded EMPOWER project will establish a joint EU-US advanced wireless ecosystem to bring together various communities and stakeholders. It will create a strategic EU-US collaboration agenda and support its implementation before global competition for beyond 5G connectivity requirements. In addition, it will deliver recommendations to assist in coordinating major funding instruments between the EU and US for future separate and joint calls. The project will speed up joint development on advanced wireless platforms directed at the new connectivity boundaries beyond 5G.
