Periodic Reporting for period 1 - FOOT TRANSPORT (Foot Transport for a Smart Mobility)
Berichtszeitraum: 2018-08-01 bis 2018-11-30
Foot Transport offers a fully integrated comprehensive solution, whereas our competitors (census and surveys, automatic passenger counting systems and smart card data sources) simply provide partial options that do not provide quantitative and qualitative KPIs (behaviour and urban mobility) at competitive prices. Besides, Foot Transport will be able to estimate the real demand of spatiotemporal urban mobility, a crucial KPI for transport operators and network planners. Our main objective pursues the integration of the mobile operator’s (Orange) data records, the optimization of the analytics and visualization platform and the validation through several pilots covering the entire bus and metro networks in Barcelona.
From the positive experience gained through the trials performed, during this feasibility assessment we have specified the technical requirements to: improve the system of control and monitoring of devices, optimize the balanced data ingestion and high availability, and improve the calculation scaling. In particular we have identified the next areas of improvement as: integration with the mobile operator data (Orange Smart Data cloud platform), real time data collection, processing and visualization, improved passenger presence tracking (based on exposition time) and profile segmentation based on use. We have also performed a technical risk analysis and prepared a contingency plan based on the initial risks identified. Additionally, we extended our market analysis and update the financial forecast accordingly.
Positive environmental impact: Cities will increase the share of public transport as well as improving the environment and traffic safety. Information flows will improve leading to more efficient communication and environmental reporting.
Improving urban quality life: Urban passengers will experience higher safety and punctuality, and clearer and more relevant information.
Increased efficiency: Public transport operators will increase their profitability through higher operational efficiency and new revenue streams. Improved public transport will help to increase their competitiveness and attract more competence.
