Apoyo para alcanzar los objetivos de biodiversidad
La Plataforma Intergubernamental sobre Diversidad Biológica y Servicios de los Ecosistemas (IPBES, por sus siglas en inglés) es un organismo intergubernamental independiente. Su objetivo consiste en reforzar la interfaz científico-normativa sobre biodiversidad y servicios ecosistémicos para la conservación y el uso sostenible de la biodiversidad, el bienestar humano a largo plazo y el desarrollo sostenible. En este contexto, el proyecto financiado con fondos europeos EU4IPBES apoyará la subvención de la Unión Europea al fondo fiduciario de la IPBES, que respalda a este organismo en todas sus funciones y estructuras, incluidos sus organismos gubernamentales, su secretaría y su programa de trabajo. Abordará el desarrollo futuro de labores relativas a bases de conocimientos y capacidades, así como la comunicación y la evaluación de actividades, materiales y hallazgos de la Plataforma, incluidas herramientas políticas.
Objetivo
The overall objective for this coordination and support action is to support the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on
Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and the implementation of its work programme aiming to strengthen the science-policy
interface for biodiversity and ecosystem services for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, long-term human wellbeing
and sustainable development. With the requested EU grant to the IPBES trust fund, the EU would support IPBES across all its
functions and structures, including its governing bodies, its secretariat, and its work programme, addressing the further
development of work on capacity and knowledge foundations, the communication and evaluation of the Platform's activities,
deliverables and findings, including policy tools, and the synthesis, review, assess and critical evaluation of relevant information and
knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystem services, generated by governments, academia, scientific organizations, nongovernmental
organizations and indigenous and local communities from the EU and worldwide.
