Satelliten und ein kleines Taschengerät für stetige Vernetzung
Das EU-finanzierte Projekt SPACELOOP hilft dem Schweizer KMU ORBITARE, das erste moderne, bezahlbare und europäische kommerzielle persönliche Satellitenkommunikationssystem auf den Markt zu bringen. Es soll Seeleute, in der Natur Tätige und die wachsende Anzahl an Abenteuerlustigen, die abseits der bekannten Wege reisen, mit ihren Familien, Followern sowie Kolleginnen und Kollegen vernetzen und ihnen im Falle eines Notfalls mit einem gesicherten Zugang Sicherheit bieten. Es bietet den Nutzenden auch ein Terminal in Taschenformat, sodass sie ihr Gerät verbinden und über das SPACELOOP-Netz jederzeit Texte, Audionachrichten, Fotos und Dateien jeglicher Art senden können.
Ziel
Space Loop will be the first commercial personal satellite communication system in Low Earth Orbit developed and built in Europe. At Orbitare we realized that by circumventing the need for real time voice along with its technical complexities, we can create a new satellite communication solution much more efficiently than the conventional set-ups. Designed for those who just need to stay in touch, it will deliver messaging, email and file transfer capabilities to any location in the World, at the most competitive price and ease of use. Space Loop will give access to satellite communications to people who consider that the offering of Inmarsat, iridium or Globalstar is complex and prohibitively expensive. We see a business opportunity in entering the large market of satellite communications and challenging the few but big incumbents. We understand that the risks are of parallel magnitude and have a realistic plan to overcome them.

Die Organisation definierte sich zum Zeitpunkt der Unterzeichnung der Finanzhilfevereinbarung selbst als KMU (Kleine und mittlere Unternehmen).
