Un nouveau logiciel qui crée des alliages métalliques avec des propriétés sur mesure
Les métaux incluant des grains nanocristallins – de minuscules cristallites mesurant quelques dizaines de nanomètres de diamètre – sont beaucoup plus résistants que les matériaux conventionnels à grains grossiers. Jusqu’à présent, les scientifiques n’avaient pas la capacité de prédire les performances des matériaux nanocristallins. Le projet ICARUS-SW, financé par l’UE, a pour ambition de développer un logiciel permettant de modéliser et d’adapter les propriétés des alliages métalliques nanocristallins. Ce logiciel sera utilisé pour concevoir de nouveaux alliages de ce type, stables sur le plan thermodynamique et avec des propriétés thermiques et mécaniques améliorées, qui seront également capables de se réparer après avoir subi des dommages provoqués par les radiations. Ces matériaux pourront être utilisés dans un large éventail d’applications structurelles.
Objectif
The underlying innovation idea of ICARUS-SW is a software for the identification and prediction of new nanocrystalline alloys with tailored properties. The software can be used as a predictive tool for the exploration, identification and design of new thermodynamically stable multi-component nc metal alloys with enhanced thermal, mechanical and irradiation damage self-healing properties. It allows the systematic exploration of the parameters space defined by chemical composition, microstructure, thermodynamic state functions and properties in search of new families of nc alloys. In preparation of this software, the exploitation, IPR and dissemination strategies will be defined and implemented in this project, based on in-depth market analysis, business planning and other exploitation-related activities.
