Chipre inicia una búsqueda de talento de los mejores científicos
El objetivo de la Universidad de Chipre es adquirir un centro de investigación en ciencia e innovación de categoría mundial en el campus a través del proyecto SInnoPSis, financiado con fondos europeos. Financiará la creación de una cátedra del Espacio Europeo de Investigación (EEI) de Política y Estudios de Ciencia e Innovación (SIPS, por sus siglas en inglés) de la propia universidad. Su principal objetivo es atraer y retener a los mejores científicos, que formarán parte de la nueva unidad de investigación multidisciplinar, y garantizar el máximo aprovechamiento de la capacidad de investigación de la escuela. Se centrará en la ciencia y la innovación, en particular en materia de economía y gestión, ciencias sociales y políticas, filosofía e información y tecnología. Quien ocupe la cátedra desempeñará la función de director o directora de investigación de la prevista unidad de investigación del SIPS.
Objetivo
The ERA Chair in Science and Innovation Policy & Studies (SInnoPSis) aims to attract a high calibre academic in order to bring together excellent academics from the linked scientific departments and consolidate all related research activities at the University of Cyprus (UCY). This vision will be realised by attracting and maintaining an international calibre professor accompanied by a group of exceptional scientists in the field of Science and Innovation Policy and Studies (SIPS), coupled with the establishment of a multidisciplinary research unit which will allow optimal exploitation of the existing research capacity and infrastructures of UCY and facilitate the gradual upgrade of the research activities in the field.
The principal thematic focus will be on the SIPS field, including all connected fields with emphasis on Economics & Management and secondarily Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy and Information Technology. The Chair will be the Research Director of the foreseen SIPS research unit having full autonomy in carrying out a research programme formulated by him/her a few months after the recruitment. This will enable the ERA-Chair team alongside scientists from linked departments of UCY whose expertise ranges in these fields to produce cutting-edge multidisciplinary research output and innovative educational and training programmes. The Chair will also create significant impact in Cyprus, by contributing with the expertise and research results of her/his group in advocating the Chief Scientist, the National Council of Research and Innovation and the Research Promotion Foundation in significant issues related to SIPS and the implementation of research and innovation policies in Cyprus. UCY will make all necessary arrangements and institutional changes needed to attract top scientists for the ERA Chair position and facilitate their scientific autonomy and optimal impact of their research.
