Cipro avvia una ricerca di talenti per attirare i migliori scienziati
Attraverso il progetto SInnoPSis, finanziato dall’UE, l’università di Cipro mira ad acquisire una struttura di ricerca scientifica e di innovazione di livello mondiale nel proprio campus. Il progetto finanzierà la creazione nell’università della cattedra SER in Studi e politiche in materia di innovazione e scienza (SIPS, Science and Innovation Policy & Studies). L’obiettivo principale è attrarre e trattenere i migliori scienziati che faranno parte del personale della nuova unità di ricerca multidisciplinare e garantiranno il massimo sfruttamento della capacità di ricerca della scuola. L’accento sarà posto sulle scienze e l’innovazione, in particolare in economia e gestione, scienze sociali e politiche, filosofia, informazione e tecnologia. Il titolare della cattedra fungerà da direttore della ricerca della prevista unità di ricerca SIPS.
Obiettivo
The ERA Chair in Science and Innovation Policy & Studies (SInnoPSis) aims to attract a high calibre academic in order to bring together excellent academics from the linked scientific departments and consolidate all related research activities at the University of Cyprus (UCY). This vision will be realised by attracting and maintaining an international calibre professor accompanied by a group of exceptional scientists in the field of Science and Innovation Policy and Studies (SIPS), coupled with the establishment of a multidisciplinary research unit which will allow optimal exploitation of the existing research capacity and infrastructures of UCY and facilitate the gradual upgrade of the research activities in the field.
The principal thematic focus will be on the SIPS field, including all connected fields with emphasis on Economics & Management and secondarily Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy and Information Technology. The Chair will be the Research Director of the foreseen SIPS research unit having full autonomy in carrying out a research programme formulated by him/her a few months after the recruitment. This will enable the ERA-Chair team alongside scientists from linked departments of UCY whose expertise ranges in these fields to produce cutting-edge multidisciplinary research output and innovative educational and training programmes. The Chair will also create significant impact in Cyprus, by contributing with the expertise and research results of her/his group in advocating the Chief Scientist, the National Council of Research and Innovation and the Research Promotion Foundation in significant issues related to SIPS and the implementation of research and innovation policies in Cyprus. UCY will make all necessary arrangements and institutional changes needed to attract top scientists for the ERA Chair position and facilitate their scientific autonomy and optimal impact of their research.
