Continuation of the Cooperation of Space NCPs as a Means to Optimise Services under Horizon 2020

Project description

Strengthening European capacity building in space exploration

Recognising the important benefits of space exploration for society and for the European economy, the EU funded the national contact point (NCP) network for space research named COSMOS in 2007. COSMOS and its successor COSMOS+ enabled NCPs to identify and exchange good practices, conduct staff training courses, and provide up-to-date information on space and related topics. Network activities continued within the COSMOS2020 project in 2015, which increased capacity building, and maximised service quality for customers in Europe. In 2019, the EU funded COSMOS2020plus was initiated. COSMOS2020plus will continue organising information days, publishing newsletters and updating the joint NCP website to build national expertise and capacity in countries with emerging space capabilities.

Objective

COSMOS2020plus is the next funding phase of the Space NCP network after COSMOS2020. For participants of Horizon 2020 Space the project will allow to continue organising information days, providing a newsletter service and a website. To improve the performance of single Space NCPs exchange means and trainings will be performed. Through this the overall performance of NCP services should be improved.
