Project description
Efficient metal recycling system without blades
The metal recycling project MRP offers the market a more efficient, economical and waste reducing system that is blade-free. This minimises shutdowns for sharpening blades that have to be entirely replaced every 24 hours. With decades-long experience and customer feedback, the manufacturer has replaced blades with a tower of high-durability hammers and centrifugal drums designed to minimise required space and energy consumption. The fully automated system involves only two operators and also self-extracts dust to reduce abrasion. MRP guarantees a 99 % recycling rate, a lower wear on the machinery, and much less maintenance. Sales are scheduled to begin in 2021.
Objective
Metal recycling has not experienced any significant progress since blade-based systems were implemented. This system involves downtimes every 8 hours to sharpen the blades and blade´s replacement every 24 working hours, high maintenance costs and, in many cases, metal recovery rates that barely reach 70%. Guidetti is an Italian company with more than 30 years of experience providing solutions to the metal recycling sector. Thanks to the continuous feedback from our customers and the understanding of their needs, we have developed MRP: a new concept of metal recycling technology, that dispenses with the inefficient blades by high-durability hammers and centrifugal drums, that disintegrate the waste by collisions between waste particles, reaching recycling rates of 99 % with minimal wear on its components. MRP has been designed in the form of modules that overlap one another in tower-shape, decreasing the space requirements in the recycling facilities and also decreasing the energy consumption. MRP also incorporates a dust extraction system which avoids obstructions in the modules and reduces abrasion inside the drums and pipes. MRP, is not only a greater efficiency in terms of metal recovery but also in terms of maintenance (up to 10 times less maintenance costs), space requirements (MRP is a compact tower of 10x10x16(h)m), in personnel thanks to its fully automated process; saving in investment, being up to one third more economical requirement (only 2 operators need instead of 6-10). MRP points to be the benchmark of a market valued at more than € 220bn with a CAGR of 22%. The total investment needed to complete the project would be € 2.7million which will be fast compensated according to our sales expectations. We have scheduled a start of MRP sales in 2021 and we have forecasted a 4-year ROI of 3.65 with € 15million of revenue and a total profit of € 5million.
