Project description
Searching for 5G mmWave solutions
The fifth generation of mobile telephony will unleash a whole new level of capabilities with data processing speeds up to 20 times faster than 4G. Needed for virtual and augmented reality and self-driving cars – 5G can only be powered by millimetre wave frequencies. Generating and receiving these tiny millimetre waves is a big challenge. The EU-funded MINTS project will provide a training programme on mmWave networks that covers the full stack from physical layer to applications. Formed by electrical engineers and computer scientists, the project’s overall aim is to find solutions for future mmWave networks. It has also pooled leading members of large EU initiatives, EU projects, and major telecommunications manufacturers, operators and prototype providers.
