Project description
Engaging citizens for a better food system
Food systems are directly related to Europe’s commitment to achieving full decarbonisation. Citizens can play an important role in this transition by eating less meat and more vegetables. The EU-funded FoodSHIFT2030 project will create new jobs in the food sector and SMEs, increase urban-rural cohesion, and improve food system sustainability. Existing food system innovations will be improved and developed to achieve a quick food system transition based on citizens’ engagement. Nine FoodSHIFT Accelerator Labs and 27 Enabler Labs will be created in existing and rising pivotal food regional systems across Europe. A further transition of the food system (beyond the FoodSHIFT2030 project) will be achieved by creating a snowball effect starting with targeted knowledge transfer.
