Project description
Legumes to boost European agri-food systems
Legumes are crucial for sustainability, food security and human health, according to the new European Protein Strategy for the innovation in protein crop production in Europe. The EU-funded INCREASE project will enhance the management and use of legume genetic resources. To meet this challenge, it will expand their utilisation, targeting users’ needs in terms of the accessibility, quality and quantity of information available. The project will focus on four main legumes: chickpea, common bean, lentil and lupin. Overall, INCREASE will strengthen Europe in the field of legume genetic resources, and at the same time it will represent an important model and tool for all crop genetic resources.
