Place to Plug’s goal is to build an extensive European wide charging network by bringing together disperse public and private charging points in a collaborative platform. The current EV (Electric Vehicle) charging landscape in Europe is fragmented with a lack of interoperability between EV charging point operators. Cross border mobility and long distance is difficult for the EV driver. Place to Plug platform aims to help EV drivers overcome this problem by offering a solution which incentivises the disperse players in the EV industry to work together (full interoperability between the different operators offering different public EV charging points) and by using the collaborative economy model (to effectively share private charging points).
A feasibility study has been performed in order to reduce technical and commercial risks and achieve the successful exploitation of the Place to Plug platform at an EU level. The tasks of the feasibility assessment have consist of:
1) Technological/technical/practical feasibility - Assess the limits of current technology to fulfil the requirements for the platform and perform a technical feasibility analysis of each of new functionalities proposed in order to detect any required adaptation or modification.
2) Economic viability of our innovation - Carry out an in-depth market assessment to focus our future technological roadmap and ensure the biggest market impact of our product.
3) IPR and legal assessment - Analyse the laws and regulations and study IPR strategies for Place to Plug.

After all actions performed, we can state that we have validated that there is a need in the market. We have also studied all current competitors and checked that there is not a fully integrated solution in the market that can address all the identified needs. On the technical side we have verified it is feasible to make a reality our proposal combining Blockchain to automate the charging station operators interoperability by using smart contracts, artificial intelligence to optimize the electric vehicle charging infrastructure and routes planning and we made sure it is feasible to integrate everything in our own charging station, so we can provide a plug and play experience by providing and end-to-end solution capable of addressing all market needs in an efficient and smart way.
