GEONAV IoT solution is updated with Galileo Dual Frequency and 5G.
For this purpose, Galileo Dual Frequency is integrated in two steps: the first prototypes integrate the Ublox F9 receivers to test dual-frequency algorithms and as the project develops in parallel Navisoc GNSS chip, second prototypes integrate Navisoc chip.
For both prototypes, GEONAV IoT design and firmware has been updated to integrate new components such as GNSS and a 5G module. New dual-frequency algorithms have been developed and integrated to the solution to improve accuracy.
GEONAV IoT solution is also updated with 5G technology. For this purpose, the project address the following approaches:
- Use 5G for communication between devices and monitoring web application to send positioning information
- Use 5G to broadcast GNSS ephemeris and corrections from a base station to the devices to improve accuracy and time to first fix
- Study of 5G positioning algorithms
The 5G standards being still in specifications, the use of 5G for communication and A-GNSS/D-GNSS has been addressed by emulating a 4G network with 5G feature.
The architecture of the solution has been updated to integrate 5G secured communication.
For A-GNSS/D-GNSS, D-GNSS algorithms have been implemented to compute corrections and a base station has been developed to generate ephemeris and correction frames to broadcast on a 5G network.
As 5G standards are not yet available for 5G positioning, this aspect is addressed in simulation: a study of 5G/GNSS algorithms in literature will identify the most relevant algorithm for GEONAV IoT use cases. This algorithm will be implemented and tested in simulation.
In the project, a new application for GEONAV IoT solution is addressed : Autonomous Drones
A proof of concept for autonomous drones has been implemented using GEONAV IoT prototype boards directly integrated into the drones.
The hardware and sotfware design of both beacons and devices of GEONAV IoT was updated for autonomous drones as well as for elite sport and valuable assets (new components such as micro-controler, 4G module...).
A specific web monitoring application was developed for drones.
The proof of Concept has been validated on site in Ireland.
In the frame of the project, the Navisoc chip has been industrialized, as well as the GEONAV IoT solution adapted to the three use cases : Elite Sport, Asset and Drones use cases.
During the project, a specific communication on GEONAV IoT solution has been deployed : creation of a website and project video, creation of social network accounts, participation to specific conferences...
