Emplear la luz para enviar información digital a los dispositivos móviles
BrightCodes desarrolla una tecnología de comunicación mediante luz visible (CLV) innovadora que utiliza luces led para enviar información a cámaras móviles de una forma no perceptible para el ojo humano. Las etiquetas ópticas activas (BrightCodes) brindan una transmisión de datos de alta velocidad utilizando solo un 10 % del área de un código QR con un tamaño equiparable. Las BrightCodes estáticas proporcionan un mecanismo de enlace práctico con una baja huella entre el mundo fuera de línea y el mundo en línea en lugares como exposiciones y comercios de venta al por menor. Con todo, la aplicación más prometedora de la tecnología es el pago móvil de proximidad. Las BrightCodes dinámicas ofrecen una alternativa rentable, segura y mucho más pequeña a los códigos QR «presentados por el comerciante» en terminales de punto de venta. La tecnología es totalmente compatible con cualquier norma de pago mediante códigos QR, por lo que puede integrarse fácilmente en las plataformas de cartera digital móvil existentes.
Objetivo
BrightCodes has developed Dynamic BC - an innovative mobile content delivery platform that connects real-life objects to online content. BrightCodes’ solution is based on a proprietary visible light communication technology (VLC) that uses LED lights to send digital information to mobile devices in a way not perceptible by the human eye.
Dynamic BCs are ideal solutions for contactless payment systems and security access control infrastructures. First, they enable customers to complete contactless payments from any smartphone without the need for near-field communication, which is not available on all mobile devices. Moreover, Dynamic BCs are a safer alternative to QR codes. They transmit factory configured UIDs that are difficult to duplicate/alter, thus they are very secure. In the access control field, Dynamic BCs can be used to authenticate and grant access to authorized person who scans the LED-based tag with the phone, by sending tag ID and verifying the user data to a cloud server, which then operates a controller installed at the door. In a longer-term stage, to increase product scalability and internationalisation, BrightCodes aims to apply Dynamic BC solution also to Out-of-home (OOH) advertising and in-store retailers.
The proposed work in Phase 1 of the SME instrument fits into the company overall plan to reach the market by contributing the financial resources needed to plan a fast sound product development plan and its market uptake.
