Fornire informazioni digitali ai dispositivi mobili utilizzando la luce
BrightCodes sviluppa un’innovativa tecnologia di comunicazione a luce visibile (VLC, visible light communication) che utilizza luci LED per inviare informazioni alle fotocamere dei dispositivi mobili in maniera impercettibile per l’occhio umano. I tag ottici attivi (BrightCodes) forniscono elevate velocità di trasmissione dati, utilizzando solo il 10 % circa dell’area di codici QR simili. I tag statici BrightCodes rappresentano un comodo meccanismo di ponte a basso impatto ambientale tra il mondo offline e quello online in luoghi come mostre e negozi fisici. L’applicazione più promettente di questa tecnologia, però, è rappresentata dai pagamenti mobili di prossimità. I tag dinamici BrightCodes offrono un’alternativa economica, sicura e molto meno ingombrante rispetto ai codici QR presentati dai commercianti sui terminali POS. La soluzione è pienamente compatibile con qualsiasi standard di pagamento QR, quindi può essere facilmente integrata nelle piattaforme mobili di pagamento esistenti.
Obiettivo
BrightCodes has developed Dynamic BC - an innovative mobile content delivery platform that connects real-life objects to online content. BrightCodes’ solution is based on a proprietary visible light communication technology (VLC) that uses LED lights to send digital information to mobile devices in a way not perceptible by the human eye.
Dynamic BCs are ideal solutions for contactless payment systems and security access control infrastructures. First, they enable customers to complete contactless payments from any smartphone without the need for near-field communication, which is not available on all mobile devices. Moreover, Dynamic BCs are a safer alternative to QR codes. They transmit factory configured UIDs that are difficult to duplicate/alter, thus they are very secure. In the access control field, Dynamic BCs can be used to authenticate and grant access to authorized person who scans the LED-based tag with the phone, by sending tag ID and verifying the user data to a cloud server, which then operates a controller installed at the door. In a longer-term stage, to increase product scalability and internationalisation, BrightCodes aims to apply Dynamic BC solution also to Out-of-home (OOH) advertising and in-store retailers.
The proposed work in Phase 1 of the SME instrument fits into the company overall plan to reach the market by contributing the financial resources needed to plan a fast sound product development plan and its market uptake.
