Project description
A safer way of travelling between floors
Most of us don’t think much about elevators. The technology has advanced over the years and the elevator of today is nothing like it used to be. It’s faster, easier and smarter, moving people around more efficiently. For the EU-funded VIEW project, the aim is to make elevators safer. It has developed the world’s first system that can automatically detect emergencies in an elevator and take appropriate action. For instance, if a person collapses in an elevator, the system will automatically contact emergency services. If a suspect bag has been forgotten in the elevator, the system will report it to officials. The prototype has been tested with success. The next step is product optimisation, price reduction and industrialisation.
Objective
What does it happen when a person collapses unconsciously or behaves conspicuously or luggage or any object is left unattended in an elevator? Either the next passenger will bump into the situation or the people behind surveillance cameras, if existing, may react. As a result, safety is limited, operation costs increased and security risks exist.
At VIEW Promotion GmbH we have developed a solution that automatically detects emergencies in the elevator, puts them into context and takes appropriate action. Applications include unconscious persons, abandoned objects, vandalism or violent attacks. VIEW goes beyond industry standards offering automatization and optimization of operation and maintenance and reducing operation costs. VIEW prototype has been tested in real scenario with a 100% success with our image recognition and deep learning algorithm technology. Next steps include product optimization for 100% reliability, price reduction and industrialization.
We have been in the industry for years and have already secured clients and great interest from the industry. Our customers are elevator owners, ranging from office buildings, to car parks, public spaces or airports. VIEW solution fits within the current trend of Smart Elevators and targets the Global Elevator Modernization market, with an estimated size to reach €10,562M by 2021, growing at a CAGR of 4.16%. VIEW is exploited through two revenue sources: price per unit and a concurrent O&M service fee. Moreover, the smart screen can be monetized through the sale of the advertising space. We expect a 3 years cumulative revenue of €34.6 million by 2023 and grow our team from 7 to 20 employees.
