Helping our customers to design smart and safe tomorrows’ communication systems

Project description

New software platform for 5G

The fifth generation of cellular technology, 5G, will deliver data rates that are up to 100 times faster than current 4G networks. Imagine downloading an entire movie to your phone in just a couple of seconds. To achieve this transmission speed in wireless radio frequency (RF) and microwave wave (MW) communications, 5G will need new system architectures. The EU-funded EDITUS project is developing a new software platform. The aim is to assist electronic manufacturers speed up the development cycle and keep costs down. The project will serve the growing electronic design automation tools market, which is expected to rise substantially due to the rapid development of smart devices.

Objective

5G communication will use new system architectures and technologies which will considerably increase the transmission speed of Wireless Radio-Frequency (RF) and Microwave Wave (MW) communications (20x faster than 4G) paving the path for new opportunities. AMCAD ENGINEERING develops a new software platform to address this new telecommunication paradigm. This solution will help electronic manufacturers to save money and speed-up development cycle. The market of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) is $460M in 2019 with a projected CAGR of 12% during the forecast period (2018 - 2023).

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.

SME-1 - SME instrument phase 1

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

AMCAD ENGINEERING
Net EU contribution

Net EU financial contribution. The sum of money that the participant receives, deducted by the EU contribution to its linked third party. It considers the distribution of the EU financial contribution between direct beneficiaries of the project and other types of participants, like third-party participants.
