Wastewater can not be directly discharged into rivers or sea, since harmful compounds need to be previously removed. European regulation is more and more extrict in this respect, to protect biodiversity and environment in general, which are issues concerning society. One of the most important compounds to be removed are nitrogen compounds, and to assess the treatment, WasteWater Treatment Plants are equipped with specific systems. However, most of the technologies currently available, consume large amounts of energy for its performance, or are not efficient enough. This need is even bigger for small size populations, since a number of them in Europe do not have any WWTP. In this context, ACAI aims to commercialize an innovative system, whose technology enables an efficient nitrogen removal with low energy consumption.
In conclusion, after performing the feasibility study, ACAI has proven that the global commercialization of DISKIFAS is a great opportunity for the company to exponentially grow in the short and medium terms. Besides, the commercialization will have an enormous impact in the water treatment sector, bringing the first integral system, capable of efficiently remove nitrogen from water with low energy consumption, at a competitive price. This will have huge benefits for the water treatment sector and society in general, in terms of sustainability, costs and efficiency. Therefore, the company has decided to continue with the project, devoting all the available resources for the following years.
