PostPressSIM - Computer aided training system for bookbinding, finishing and mailing areas

Objetivo

OBJECTIVES
The increasing demand regarding services in the printing industry and associated sectors (binding, pasting, colouring, insertion etc.) means that professionals in the sector must constantly update their skills; and it also underlines the need for innovative training methods. In order to respond to this demand, the partners wish to produce a life-long training system based on the use of multimedia tools and simulation programmes. These simulation tools will make it possible to visualise the printing process of the machines used downstream of the printing process.

ACTIVITIES
The project will be divided into sub-projects for the various subjects addressed by the simulation tool: dispatch systems, finishing machines, book binding etc. Each sub-project will have its own manager and a quality manager. Conferences will be organised in order to evaluate the plans of the sub-projects, their realisation, and the finished product which results from them. The simulation tool will next be produced by combining the results of the various projects. This tool will be accompanied by modular training software enabling the user to use the simulation tool in the various subject areas addressed.

PRODUCTS
The project will result in the production of a CD-ROM containing modular training software concerning training in the various sectors addressed (binding, pasting, distribution, etc.) and a virtual reality simulation tool for various products, and the way in which they are produced and managed.
