Objective
OBJECTIVES
During the last few years, the school system and the vocational training system have undergone profound changes be it in regard to the subject matter of qualifications or skills linked to technological innovations. Those principally involved in the schools, at training level or in the companies increasingly feel the need for positive co-operation to reach common objectives, even if to date the school and the work place have been integrated on the basis of experiences which are too far apart. Setting up an on-and-off-the-job model based on the experience of the partner countries within the project may mean that some of these objectives can be achieved, in particular, better consideration of the school culture and the enterprise culture. In order to compare these two cultures, the vocational education management and Fiat made a framework agreement in 1994 for setting up a range of joint activities in on-and-off-the-job training between school and work. It is within this framework that the project was born.
ACTIVITIES
There will be four distinct stages within this framework. The first will consist of defining on-and-off-the-job models in the partner countries, the second will consist of identifying and designing on-and-off-the-job models and a relevant monitoring system, and the third stage will consist of designing and producing the tools for installing and monitoring on-and-off-the-job systems. The tool will be tested and assessed during the fourth and last stage.
PRODUCTS
A range of tools such as computer-aided teaching programmes, videos and manuals for advising and helping schools and student counselling enterprises to analyse the design, application and monitoring of the on-and-off-the-job system.
