Viruses and Epitranscriptomics: seeking novel targets for antiviral therapy

Project description

A big boost for Portugal’s virology research

This twinning proposal will target the University of Aveiro’s Institute of Biomedicine, which is ranked among the top 5 research institutions in the biomedical field in Portugal. Specifically, it will boost the scientific excellence of young researchers in the fields of virology and epitranscriptomics, which are underrepresented at the national level. To achieve this, the EU-funded EpiViral project will conduct joint research projects and stimulate the innovation capacity. It will contribute to new joint teams of highly-skilled researchers and promote and enhance the institute’s networking and international awareness. The overall objective is for the institute to emerge as a European research organisation of excellence in the field of virology.
