The importance of SMEs to the EU is well recognised. Measures to help the growth of such businesses are a major priority. This pilot project is designed to address the lack of management competency in training and human resource development in SMEs. It will do this by the application of 'Learning Organisation' principles to smaller companies, using the creation of networks as a mechanism. The partners will achieve this by exploring the concept as it relates to SMEs in their own country, building upon the experiences of an Irish pilot study.
Three reports will be produced: a case study report on the Irish pilot; a report outlining how a SME network will be established in each partner country; and a facilitator's guide for the network, setting objectives and giving advice on dealing with the concerns of SME members.
Impact
New SME networks will be created in each partner country, which will assist in the application of the concepts of the learning organisation to SMEs. This will enhance management competency in training and human resource development.
