Objective
There are unacceptably high levels of drop out rates by students and trainees aged 16-25 who are undertaking a programme of learning. This is wasteful and inefficient to trainees and students, to the training institutions and to the national training organisations who promote the learning processes. There has been and - is soon to be a further - significant change in the role of day to day teachers, lecturers and private sector trainers in that they are now required to support the trainees in order that they achieve successful outcomes. A gap has also been identified in the availability of suitable training materials for the day to day teachers, lecturers and private sector trainers who will be required to add counselling, guidance and personal tutoring/mentoring to their skill base.
This pilot project will develop a series of training materials in guidance, counselling and personal tutoring/mentoring skills which are needed by deliverers of vocational education i.e. teachers, lecturers and private sector trainers. It will support the national training institution strategies in their achievement of national training targets.
Impact
This pilot project will lead to an accreditation of the training materials and course modules with relevant accrediting institutions in each EU partner country.
