European aerospace professional development scheme

Obiettivo

All European civil aircraft, i.e. those produced by Airbus Industrie (A320, A340 aircraft) and EH Industries Limited (EH101 helicopter) are designed and manufactured by companies from several countries in the EU. Competition in the world aerospace market is fierce, particularly from the USA and increasingly from the Far East, and to maintain and increase the market share European aerospace companies must be much more efficient and effective at managing these transnational projects. Major European airlines have staff in several European countries and they too must become more cost effective in order to survive.

To support this requirement, this project, set up under the leadership of the industry, will develop a series of education and training modules in aerospace technologies, management and business. The modules will be undertaken by staff while working in industry, sponsored by their employers.

12 selected modules will be developed and run by the end of the project. Each module will be transnational in nature, with the industrial applications specifically tailored to meet the needs of the aerospace industry in the country in which the module is run. The partners aim to achieve international recognition for each module and award an MSc degree - or the equivalent - to students who successfully complete 12 modules and undertake a major project in his/her employing company.

Impact
The project will result in a unique programme of continuing professional development for young, experienced engineers and managers in the aerospace industry in Europe.
