Objective
In the administrative, distribution, health and health care sectors, changing approaches and technology have led to the emergence of new job profiles. Vocational training must reflect these new needs. Alongside this, drop-out rates among 16-19 year-olds are a cause for concern. Measures must be taken to encourage these young people to complete their formal training to avoid exclusion. This project aims to address these two needs through the development of new technology-based vocational training programmes designed to increase student motivation and to provide appropriate personal and technical skills training in the target areas.
Partners will exchange information on their respective training systems, teaching methods and evaluation procedures, on approaches to the drop-out problem and on market needs as a prelude to developing training programmes and materials. These will be practical skills oriented, of modular structure and be designed to support creative training strategies. Following an experimental assessment and testing phase, modules will be adjusted and finalised for dissemination through the partnership. The modules will be multimedia based and designed for use in open and self-learning situations. Accompanying materials will be developed to encourage a self-study, self assessment approach to learning.
Impact
The project will lead to enhanced vocational training and transparency of qualifications and encourage full student participation in the learning process.
