The overall aim of the project is to forge closer links between education establishments and small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Union. To achieve this, the project will research quality and innovation in participating countries' vocational training systems, with a particular emphasis on the relevance of training in real work situations.
The partners will explore existing practices, levels of understanding, and the quality of provision in each country. They will then analyse and evaluate the results from a national and European perspective. A series of recommendations will be drawn up as a final report, which will be disseminated in a multimedia format. These recommendations are likely to cover subjects such as : the minimisation of 'drop-out' rates; the availability of fast-track systems for more capable students; the reinforcement of remedial arrangements for under-achievers; a critique of modern apprenticeship schemes; language training; and the use of telematics.
Impact
The project should lead to improvements in the relationship between academic and vocational education, between theoretical and practical knowledge, and between institutional and work-related skills.
