All the necessary blocks to set up the physical layer of a synchronous CDMA system were studied and implemented in a simulation platform in order to be evaluated taking into account realistic implementation aspects such as fixed point precision and complexity.
Chip specifications were established in the scope of using synchronous CDMA in the upstream of a HFC network, thus enabling improvement of existing TDMA based cable modems with respect to e.g. resistance to ingress noise.
Specifications includes all the mechanisms for efficient in-band acquisition of new modems, tracking of connected modems, power control, efficient data demodulation in burst or circuit mode, flexible allocation of bitrate to users, etc
The know how is intended to be exploited in the scope of other media, such as power lines communications (PLC), broadband satellite communications, wireless local loop (WLL) or local multipoint distribution system (LMDS).
