Quality enhancement in low linear density polyethylene stretch film production

A complete revision of the process to obtain low linear density polyethylene (LLDPE) stretch films used for general packaging purposes was accomplished during the project. Starting from the model describing the behaviour of the material to be processed, the extruder (which is the heart of the process) has been improved in its design and performance. Factory automation was integrated and on line quality control was enhanced. The results are an increased productivity of the new plant, a better and constant quality and, as a consequence, a reduction of rejected production.
