Prototype for handling the heating element of electric cookers

The final result of the project is a robotized demonstration prototype to automate some of the operations involved in radiant heaters production. Such radiant heaters incorporate a flexible strip material as heating element. Using a KUKA industrial robot, the heating element produced by a specially designed device is assembled in the ceramic base plate of the heater. The developed prototype solves flexible strip laying operation. Currently, these handling and laying operations are manually done and require expert operators. The heating element that is manipulated is a very flexible material and the manipulation operation results in a difficult and extremely repetitive monotonous operation all working at high production rates. Automation of this handling operation with an industrial robot will allow to reallocate manpower to more qualified and skilled jobs.
