MixNet is an excellent example of a successful network of collaboration and information exchange in the field of chemical mixing. Comprising eighteen partners representing a wide range of industry, research & development organisations and academia, MixNet set out to improve communication and assist harmonisation of research, both of which it achieved. Advances in chemical mixing have wide European application, being adaptable to process industries such as Food, Water, Minerals, Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals etc. The co-ordination of R&D effort in fluid mixing through exchange of relevant information, harmonisation of approach and sharing of experiences in areas in which problems are common, should result in cost reduction, avoidance of duplication of effort and minimisation of waste.
All Clusters concluded that the network had proceeded largely as scheduled and had been successful in broad terms, bringing together the key expertise in mixing technology in Europe, exchanging valuable information and knowledge and achieving a great degree of harmonisation of approach to problem solving in this widely applied field.
The partners of MixNet remain willing to consider new groupings for further network projects/collaboration/problem solving, and may be contacted direct or via the MixNet Forum web site - address: http://mixnet.bham.ac.uk:8080/~mixnet-forum
