Improved printing process by electronically controlled adjustment of printing roller

Obiettivo

At least 90 % of the SMEs in the printing industry in Europe use a technique where printing is carried out by using four different rollers and colours to create a print. The problem of the printing process of today is that it takes too long to adjust a machine when changing a printing pattern (or roller). The machine is normally running during two to four hours, after which the pressure is changed. This leads to a four to eight hours standstill. The cost of this standstill is well known. Merely within the gift wrapping paper industry, in Sweden, it is estimated that over 200 MECU could be saved per year if the stand still in production could be reduced or eliminated. In Europe the savings would arnount to approxirnately 3000 MECU per year.
The purpose of this project is to radically increase productivity and decrease pollution that is a result from the traditional printing process used by SMEs today. This will be achieved by developing a technique of electronically controlled adjustrnent of printing rollers.
By using a technology which is completely new to the printing industry, the availability of the printing line will be increased by at least 50 % and environrnental pollution will be substantially reduced. - The time it takes to charge a printing pattern will
be drastically shortened ( 99 %). - The need for changing and cleaning the dye containers and the printing rollers due to change of printing pattern will be eliminated (100 %).
