The prototype machine manufactured is built on the basis of a LAJTOS industrial jigger fitted with the latest features in terms of unwind speed adjustment and fabric tension adjustment. The whole operation of the machine is managed by a programmable automated system: programmed injection of dyes and auxiliaries, fabric unwinding, and management of microwave power and operating safety devices. The main energy supply is by indirect steam by coil immersed in the liquor. Additional supply by microwaves represents an installed power of up to 30 kW produced by power generators situated on the roof of the machine and distributed over the length of the product to be processed. The microwave energy is confined within the processing area by devices which eliminate microwave leaks outside--chokes on the doors as well as on all sensitive parts. The most salient advantages have been obtained on viscose dyeing (direct dyes) and cotton dyeing (high temperature reactive dyes). For viscose dyeing, there is a reduction in the overall dyeing time of around 20%. The results obtained in cotton dyeing occur on all important items for the dyer: increase of dye yields by about 10 points (from 70% to 80%); reduction of pollution by the dye from 25-30%; improved levelness; salt consumption lowered by 25%; dyeing time shortened by 30 min.
