Analyses of ocean states

Summary : The analyses provide the first physically consistent and dynamically balanced data sets of the ocean for the period 1979-1994. A high resolution data is also available for 1993. The data gives a tridimensional view of the ocean, interpolating in space and time, through sparse subsurface observations and surface measurements (altimetry and SST). The data has been stored at 10-days interval for the entire period.

Combination TOPEX/POSEIDON and ERS data sets

Summary : The data sets provides a combined view of the ocean altimetry. The TOPEX and ERS observations are complementary, one more suited to high resolution in space and the other to high resolution in time. Combination of the two has allowed to improve the value of the observations and to increase their effect on the reconstruction of the ocean variability.

Assimilation algorithms

A number of new assimilation techniques were developed and tested in the project.
