Integrated Cereal Yield System based on Earth Observation and GIS Technology

Logica have developed an integrated Cereal Yield Estimation System based on the use of Earth Observation, GIS and in situ data. Potential customers of products and services provided by the system include farmers. agri-business brokers, regulatory authorities and commodity traders.

The CAMPOS agrometeorological model

Nottingham has developed an agro-meteorological model, CAMPOS (Cereal Accumulation Model Progressively Optimised by Satellite) driven by weather data, which simulates the growth and development of cereal crops. Although developed Specifically for the Tierra de Campos region of Spain, the model is robust and transportable to other regions. It has shown good results when tested on UK data. The Model is available for further research and development and could be adapted for use by agribusiness, farmers and regulatory authorities in other regions, both in the EU and worldwide.
