Ziel
The objective is to develop environmentally friendly and industrially acceptable tannin adhesives for wood products of little or no formaldehyde emission.
The project envisages the investigation of a series of hardening systems and their reactions for tannin suitable for wood adhesives. These are based mainly on the catalytically induced autocondensation of polyflavonoid tannin couples to a series of different hardeners. From this study, a series of low formaldehyde emission, or in the best case of no-formaldehyde emission adhesive formulations based on natural products will be obtained. These will be extensively tested at laboratory and pilot plant levels on products such as wood particleboard, plywood, laminated timber and fingerjoints.
