The present Cost Shared Action is partly the following of the INNOHTR CSA carried out in the frame of the 4th FP and a complement to the Contract HTR-F signed in September 2000. Its main objective is to investigate the characteristics of the HTRGR fuels. The particular design based on fuel coated particles that ensure leak tightness to the fission products needs to master a high quality of fabrication fuel. So it is necessary to recover the technology of fabrication and to improve it later on. Concerning the fuel performance under irradiation it is needed to assess the temperature limit of operation of such fuel particles in particular in the case of higher burn-ups to be investigated. This better understanding of fuel can be met by fuel modelling but also by performance of an irradiation and PIE programme.
