Obiettivo
Long term, the aim is to install a 20 MW electricity generator, following a possible with a 3.5 MW mobile turbo-generator. Prior to this development, production tests will be conducted on the first wells to be brought to production, with a pressurised separator. These will be followed (immediately prior to the trial 3.5 MW run) by production and reinjection tests. Six additional wells are to be drilled, bringing the total to 10, to feed the final 20 MW unit.
Pre-injection treatment was necessary due to high CO2 content and silicate deposition in the sludge. Tests indicate two reservoirs (possibly more) are present in the Phlegraean Fields, proving the recharge of the reservoir by sea water. The 10 MW objective seems to be reasonable, in the view of the results of the further well drilled in the field and completion of pit test.
Production tests with a pressurised separator were carried out on well M 1 in August 1981 and on M 2 in April 1982. The results showed that well M 2 was capable of commercial generation of approximately 4 MW. Whereas M 1 could not be exploited commercially in its current condition - 0.7 MW (See GE 1/79). Well M 1 was worked over in 1982, with the upper secion perforated at a higher interval between 550 m and 896 m. A production test yelded 210 t/h at a well-head pressure of 220 kg/cm2 and temperature of 220 deg. C and salinity of about 43 g/l.
Estimated potential for commercial exploitation is a 4 MWe. Other wells have been drilled between 1980 and 1984; M 3 (1,980 M) M 5 (2,700 M), M 80 (907 M) and M 9D (1,745) and M 7D (1648 m). Wells M 5 similar to M 8D could be used as a production or reinjection well between 662 m and 907 m: its flowrate is 220 t/h at a well-head pressure and temperature of 9 bars and 165 deg. C.
Well M 9D has considerable potential which could be exploitedfor production. Long term production and reinjection were carried out over as two month period in 1985 with well M 1 productor and M 7 as reinjection in order to analyze the behaviour of the reservoir and any possible side effects on other wells.
