10th International Meeting on Ferroelectricity

Ziel

The technical ferroelectrics industry, especially ceramics materials, has attracted enormous interest from academic establishment attempting to further scientific understanding, from Government departments wanting to provide the "see com" for growth and from large companies sensing the emergence of major business opportunities. The huge growth of electronic devices has fuelled an increase in worldwide demand for ferroelectrics materials with a growth rate in excess of both inflation and or the increase in Gross Domestic Product for the major industrial. The common features in these scenarios are the application led demand for new products, new application and new materials, the technical complexity of some application and the necessity for cost effectiveness bearing in mind alterative solutions.

Since the first IMF in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1966, the IMF meetings have become some of the most important events in the calendar of the worldwide ferroelectrics community, contributing significantly to the promotion of knowledge on Ferro electricity and providing the opportunity for international collaboration. Now more than ever before, the importance of ferroelectrics materials is being recognized by many industrial workers as well as scientists. With the year 2000 approaching, we believe that the IMF-10, the firsts meeting of the 21st century, will be a milestone because it will provide us invaluable opportunities to review the current status and the bright future of ferroelectrics research.
