The 2002 BCAT (Barcelona Conference on Algebraic Topology) will present the current state and prospects of homotopy theory and some of its relations with other disciplines. The Conference will cover various aspects of stable and unstable homotopy theory, including models for homotopy categories, homotopy theory of schemes, generalisations of Lie groups, topological Hochschild homology, K-theory, localisation, and other themes, together with connections with neighbour fields such as conformal field theory and compact group representation theory . The BCAT series started in 1982 and continued every fourth year since then. Proceedings books were published by Springer and Birkhäuser. The 1998 BCAT
