Functions of fos-related antigens (fra-1 and fra-2) in bone cells

Ziel

Investigation of the role of Fra-1 and Fra-2 in osteoclast and osteoblast biology by different gain- and loss-of-function approaches Postdoctoral training at the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna would provide me with a great opportunity to acquire new scientific techniques and skills in molecular biology and mouse genetics, which I have not used before in my career. The training potential would therefore be very high and this fellowship would strongly improve my career prospects in research. I obtained my PhD in London, UK, studying bone cell function using cell biology approaches. Prof. Wagner's lab at the IMP also studies bone cell function and differentiation, but from a completely different angle employing genetic gain- and loss-of-function approaches. Therefore, the host institution will additionally profit from this fellowship because of my strong knowledge about bone cell biology. During my PhD I acquired expertise in all of the relevant osteoblast and osteoclast culture systems that will have to be employed to study possible changes in bone cell function in the genetically modified mice.
