Ziel

Department of Mathematics and Statistics Lancaster University, UK Visiting Doctoral Studentships in Computer Intensive Methods in Applied Statistical Modeling funded through the EC Marie Curie Training Site Human Potential Programme Applications are invited from doctoral students at Member or Associate Member states who wish to spend between 3 and 12 months studying either theory or application of computationally intensive statistical methods within a leading research group with an outstanding record for its research at the interface between statistical methodology and applications. Supervision can be provided in algorithm development and theoretical properties, complex statistical model development and the application of advanced statistical methods in addressing important scientific questions in collaboration with subject specialists. The statistics group at Lancaster has expertise in a wide variety of statistical methodologies, including extreme value techniques, graphical modeling, longitudinal data analysis, Markov chain Monte Carlo methods, survival and event history analysis, spatial statistics and time series analysis. Current application areas include environmental and ecological, financial, medical and industrial research. The group has wide experience of working with international doctoral students. There are a large number of young and active researchers and a vibrant collaborative working atmosphere.
