Ziel
The basic objective of the project is the exploitation of the existing civil engineering structures along the main irrigation channel which has its origin at the river of Nestos, close to the village of Paradisos. The innovative aspect consists of using the existing civil engineering works, the irrigation channel geometry and a system of multiple pipes (as a penstock) to direct the water to the turbines. The estimated capacity is 800 kW. The electricity which will be produced will be sold to the grid.
The innovative aspect of this project is the efficient use and exploitation of existing hydraulic structures for irrigation to produce electrical power, keering low the cost per installed kW.
