New generation of ultra-high resolution radar systems based on high-power subnanosecond pulsed laser diodes

The aim of this joint research project has been to develop devices, circuits and circuit techniques for a new generation of laser radars based on high power (> 100 W), high speed (SUP>11 A/s) and amplitudes of 10 to 200 A to a laser diode load were realised. In addition high speed (>1 GHz) InGaAs pin photodiode and GaAs and InP MSM diode structures as well GaAs Mesfet hybrid preamplifier and BJT ASIC preamplifier/receiver channel topologies were developed according to the requirements of the pulsed time-of-flight laser radar system.
