Non-linear phenomena in microphysics of collisionless plasmas: space and laboratory applications

This network has brought a contribution on generic linear and non-linear phenomena that arise in many subfields of plasma physics. It bings a better understanding of non-linear processes in both laboratory and space plasma. The INTAS network was linked with a Human Capital and Mobility Network on the same subject. The aims of these two networks was to develop mutual knowledge on works done in Russia and in the EC and, throunch eisting collaborations, to extend them and stimulate new ones. Theory, computation and experiments on non-linear plasma physics have been in progress suring the period of this INTAS contract. Among different topics, it is of interest to underline collaborations of different laboratories on such topics as: Whistler wave excitation by modulated beam (IZMIRAN, IAP Nizny-Novgorod, L.P.G.P. Orsay)Excitation of plasma waves by beating of electromagnetic waves (Lebedev, G.P.I., L.P.G.P.)Particle acceleration by short laser pulses (Lebedev, G.P.I., CPhT Palaiseau, R.A.L.)Non-linear effects in magnetospheric plasmas (Inst. of the Earth, Max Planck-Lindau, ITP Bochum)Non-linear effects associated with low hybrid waves (R.A.L. ITP Bochum, Inst. of the Earth) Research work has been completed concerning: Scattering of electromagnetic waves in plasmas (Bogolioubov I.T.P. Kiev, IST Lisbon)Experiment on drift wave turbulence, drift vortices, beatwave (G.P.I., L.P.G.P.)
